This study has examined the impact of political parties’ slogans with regard to the issue of thepublication of state-penned history textbooks on the attitude of voters, based on research of college
student groups in Seoul and other metropolitan regions. The study used, as the dependent variables, the
reputations of the political parties (Saenuri Party and the main opposition New Politics Alliance for
Demonstration), the respondents’ attitudes toward and voting intention to the parties as well as their
attitudes toward propaganda. The result showed that the reputations of the two parties didn’t show
meaningful differences before and after they suggested their political slogans. When it came to the
attitudes toward and voting intentions to the parties, the figure for Saenuri Party showed little
difference after the presentation of the slogans, while that of the New Politics Alliance for
Demonstration rose higher. With regard to the voters’ attitude toward the messages of the slogans
presented by the respective parties, the New Politics Alliance for Demonstration outperformed Saenuri
Party in all the dependent variables: reputations, attitudes towards the parties, intention of voting, and
attitudes toward propaganda. There was no meaningful difference among the responses of both genders
over their attitude toward the slogans of the parties. The analysis of the interaction effects of voters’
attitude based on the types of slogans and the genders, however, produced statistically meaningful
difference over the main effects of slogan messages but did not produce the meaningful interaction
effects. Meanwhile, diverse theoretical and practical implications were discussed during the research.
