The purpose of this study was to analyze and understand the social leisure experience ofundergraduates. For the purpose of this study, 6 participants were selected, using
purposive sampling method of nonprobability sampling. The means of collecting data were
open type questionnaire and in-depth interview, and grounded theory by Strauss and
Corbin(1990) was applied for this study. The results from the analysis are as follows.
First, 151 concepts were showed, and then 22 sub-categories and 9 categories were
categorized. Second, found the relationship among category which was arranged by axis
of six paradigms(causal condition, situational context, major phenomenon, conciliatory
condition, interaction strategy and result). Third, examined the overall outline by
describing the undergraduate student's social leisure experiences and drew the core
category ‘participate social leisure’ by story telling. In this study, although there were
many restrictions, undergraduate students who participate social leisure experienced the
change and growth by interaction strategy. Also this leads continuous participation
behavior and participation of others. Lastly, this study provides a meaningful implications
for future social leisure researches.
