이 논문은 하와이 주민들은 다른 토착민들과 같이 그들의 지명과 밀접한 연관관계를 갖고 있음을 관찰하고자 하였다. 특히 장소를 만드는 과정과 장소의 역사를 기록하는 과정에 있어 지명의 중요성에 중점을 두어 분석하였다.

This paper examines the close connection that Hawaiians, like other Indigenous peoples, have with their places. In particular, this paper focuses on the significance of place names in the process of place-making and recording the history of a place.
