From a conversation analytic perspective, this paper examines the practice of re-saying through which a turn or sequence is closed down in Korean conversation. Two types of re-sayings are addressed: repeat re-sayings and pro-form re-sayings. The examination of naturally occurring conversation data indicates that both types of re-sayings are closure-implicative in that they close down a turn or sequence. The closure is marked by the immediate start-up of a next speaker or by the launching of a new turn by the current speaker who subsequently initiates a new topic. It is also shown that re-sayings can be repeatedly deployed in the face of failing to close down a turn or sequence and that pro-form re-sayings can serve as a closing ultimatum.
