The purpose of this study is to examine university students`` views on group piano and suggest ideas for better classes. The survey instrument has 11 questions about group piano environment and class contents. The participants are 114 students from 3 different universities during the fall 2007 semester. The data reveal that most of the participants are satisfied with their classes. Based on the analysis, definite perception of the purpose of group piano, building of interesting cooperative learning environment, appropriate class size, flexible class management, balanced class contents(repertory, functional skills, creative activities), pre-level tests are recommended for improving the quality of group piano. Through these students can build musicianship and experience the joy of music making. In Korea, well trained instructors for group piano and publication of various kinds of textbooks for group piano at universities are needed urgently.
