이 논문은 다문화주의의 이상과 현실의 곤경, 그리고 그 사이에 서 이주민 당사자들의 주체성(subjectivity)을 어떻게 획득할것인가를 고민하는 과정을 추적해 보는 기획이다. 이를 위해 ‘자기변형의 계기로서의 자기서사’에 주목하면서, ‘자기서사’와 호미바바의 디세미네이션(dessmi-nation ) 전략이 만나는 지점을 포착하고 다문화와 로컬리티의 접점을 시도했다. ‘국민국가의 시간에사이(in-between)의 시간성을 도입하는’ 이중적 발화/글쓰기로서로컬리티의 문제를 사유하면서, 이러한 발화양상이 국민국가의경계를 넘어 경계의 주변에서 서성거리는 이주민들의 자기선언의 발화의 의미와 공통성을 가지고 있다는 점을 고찰했다. 다문화 사회의 이주노동자들은 자신들의 탈구위치(dislocation)를 협상하고 새로운 가능성들을 고민하면서 자신의 정체성을 재위치화한다. 이 과정에서 고정된 영토성과 제도에 기반을 둔 기존의 시민권에 도전하는, 당사자들의 ‘자기선언적’(self-claimed) 정치주체로 전환하는 ‘능동적’ 능력은 중요한 계기가 됨을 알 수 있다. 이러한 주체화 과정은 ‘다형적 정체화(polymorphous identification)’라는 관계적 맥락 안에서 생성되는 비판적 로컬리티의 생성구조와연결된다.

영어 초록

This paper is a project trying to trace multiculturalism’s dilemmabetween ideal and reality and the process that migrants contemplate howthey should acquire subjectivity, given the dilemma. For this, givingattention to the self-narrative as the momentum of self-transformation,’this paper attempted to grasp the point where the self-narrative’ andHomi Bhabha’s ‘dissemi-nation’ strategy converge, and to find the interfacebetween multiple cultures and locality. Cogitating the problem of localityas dual utterance/writing‘that introduce the temporality of in-betweeninto the time of a nation-state,’ this paper considered that such anutterance aspect had commonality and the meaning of the utterance ofself-declaration for immigrants who cross the boundary of a nation-stateand linger near the boundary. Migrant workers in a multicultural societyreposition the their identity by negotiating their dislocation and contemplatingnew possibilities. It is found that in this process, their ‘active’ ability totransform into‘self-claimed’ political subjects as activist citizens whochallenge the existing citizenship, which is founded on fixed territorialityand systems, proves to serve as an important momentum. Such a processof subjectivation has a structure homologous with the generative structureof critical locality that is generated within the relational context of‘polymorphous identification.
