Cognitive principles(인지적 원리)
- we will call the first set of principles "Cognitive" because they relate mainly to mental(정신적) and intellectual(지적) function. but all 12 of the principles outlined in this chapter spill across somewhat arbitrary cognitive(인지적), affective(정서적), and linguistic(언어적) boundaries.

1. Automaticity(자동성)
아이들의 2언어 습득 성공요인 → 무의식적으로 습득하는 경향(tendency to acquire language subconsciously)
언어의 형식에 대한 지나친 분석을 안함 → automatic processing with peripheral attention to language forms.
- Subconscious absorption of language through meaningful use
(의미 있는 사용을 함으로써 언어를 잠재의식적으로 흡수하는 것)
- efficient and rapid movement away from a focus on the forms of language to a focus on the purposes to which language is put
(초점을 언어 형태에서 언어 사용 목적으로 효율적으로 신속하게 옮겨가는 것)
- efficient and rapid movement away from a capacity-limited-control of a few bit and pieces to a relatively unlimited automatic mode of processing forms
(몇 개의 토막과 파편들에 대해 제한된 능력으로 통제를 하는 것으로부터 비교적 무제한적으로 언어 형태를 처리하는 자동화된 모드-종종 유창성이라 불리는 것)로 효율적이고 신속하게 옮겨가는 것
