Marijuana is becoming legal in more states than ever before. In fact, marijuana is now legal in several states. People are allowed to legally smoke it for medicinal use as long as they have the documentation to do so. This may be more dangerous than many people seem to believe. “Although marijuana has been legalized by several states, it is currently classified by the U.S. Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) as a Schedule I drug” (Okaneku, Vearrier, McKeever, Lassala, & Greenberg, 2015). Drugs are classified into different schedules by the medical use and the potential for abuse. A Schedule I is the highest of the classifications. This class of drugs mean that there is no acceptable medical use and the risk of abuse is extremely high. Even with the obvious dangers of this drug, many people to not perceive is as being so dangerous. This paper focuses on presenting the prevalence due to changing perception, adverse psychosocial outcomes, its role as a gateway drug,
