Discussion
In our daily life, more and more people have unwittingly used code switch during conversation with friends or other people. Like all of people, I have also used it. The meaning of code switching is the alternate use of two languages or linguistic varieties within the same utterance or during the same conversation (Hoffman, 1991:110). I didn’t take any notice of using code switching during conversation before I take this course. As you can see from examples, my casual conversations also carry on two languages by using code switching and I often switching between English and Chinese and Korean when I speak with different people without thinking. Not only I, but many other people only used it out of habit. I think there are several reasons why we code switching.
The first reason is the globalization of the world. Due to development of global market, many people are required to acquire foreign language skills such as English, Chinese and Japanese and so on, they want to be bilingual and even trilingual, speaking foreign languages.
