목차
1. MANNER OF ARTICULATION
2. PLACE OF ARTICULATION
본문내용
The tongue, lips, teeth, and various regions of the mouth constitute places of articulation in the oral cavity. This means that air coming from the lungs is constricted somehow to create consonant sounds.
Here's what consonant sounds look like (the place of articulation) as they are produced in the vocal tract.

1. MANNER OF ARTICULATION: features that describe how the phone is made in the vocal tract (pharynx, oral cavity, and nasal cavity).
Voicing
• Consonants can be voiced or voiceless.
• Voiced consonants are produced while the vocal folds are vibrating. [b, m, w, v, d, d, n, z, l, dʒ, ʒ, r. j, ɡ, ŋ]
• Voiceless consonants are produced without the vocal folds vibrating. [p, ʍ, f, θ, t, s, tʃ, ʃ, k, ʔ, h]
2. PLACE OF ARTICULATION: features that describe where the phone is made in the oral cavity, using which part of the tongue
• LABIAL: consonants are produced with the lips.
