본문내용I have studied English for 11years in Korea, but I still make a lot of mistakes in writing and speaking. However the students who have exposed few years in bilingual environment when they were children are acquiring the second language as a first language. Otherwise, the adults who exposed their adulthood in bilingual condition fail to acquire the second language just like their mother language. I am wonder why children learn language quicker and easier than adults do? Are they smarter than adults? I think there are many reasons why children learn language quickly. First of all, language learning is not acquiring knowledge. Children’s mind and mental structure is more flexible than grown people. When adults are trying to learn the second language, they prepare a dictionary, a grammar book and so on, children are practicing it in their life. second, they don’t have fear to fail. Adults have some kind of defensive mechanism in our mind, which means we are afraid of failure. When adults are learning the 2nd language, they have fear to make mistakes. I believe this defensive mechanism makes grown-up people as slower language learner.
