1. Give me a detailed example of "mise-en-scene" from a movie. Why did it work? How was it created? What feeling did it create?

A good movie that expresses mise-en-scene is Notting Hill. It is a story about love between a famous actress and a common man.
We can`t understand the story when we watch the first scene of the movie, so we should pay attention to mise-en-scene. This movie also has a good first scene wherein we can guess the story. In the first scene the main actress, Anna Scott, stands alone on stage in the spotlight with a crowd of reporters then the shot changes to the main actor, William Thacker, walking on Notting Hill that is crowded because of street stalls and many people. It helps us guess that their lives are totally different. William is doing a monologue about his life. His dirty house and his bookstore where he works show that he is easy-going and poor.
