Summary
As the title is, this article is including research result on incentive and the reason why incentive plans cannot work.
Most managers and the people who advise them believe in the redemptive power of rewards. And the vast majority of U.S. corporations use some sort of program intended to motivate employees by tying compensation to one index of performance or another. But a lot of evidences are telling that their belief isn’t true. Rewards succeed in accomplishing temporary compliance, but fail in creating an enduring commitment to any value or action. Finally, Incentives, a version of what psychologists call extrinsic motivators, do not alter the attitudes that underlie our behaviors. Incentives merely and temporarily change what we do.

Thus, they did work as usual or were rather demotivated. For example, when I was a high school student, our school gave students who get a good grade remarkably the scholarships. Always, the scholarship was given to a high -ranking student. And my friend and I didn`t care about the scholarship at all. We just studied as usual and sometimes applauded students on the platform.
