The word 'brand' means to burn. Burning was used to differentiate own's cattle from others in colonial America. At that time, ranchers were raising lots of cattle and other livestock as an important means of living. However, big problems occurred because those animals looked the same. Ownership always created scuffles. Soon, owners began to mark their animals to make sure of their own property. Cattle were burnt on the skin with the owner's name or symbol such as a star, a cross or a circle. That is the reason why brand came into being. However, it was just symbols. these days, It has changed, and attained personality like that of human.
