My responses to Frankenstein are the following: first, I am disappointed by Victor Frankenstein’s disrespectful behavior toward his own creation, namely the monster; second, throughout the book, I have felt deeply sorry for the monster; and third, I liked the end of the book, because I completely agree with Victor Frankenstein’s decision not to create a female monster.
First, it was Victor Frankenstein’s personal decision to create the monster. Because of this, he had personal responsibility to the monster. In other words, when we create something, we have a moral responsibility to care for it. In our story, this is not the case. Victor Frankenstein, in essence, abandoned the monster because he was so disgusted by the monster’s appearance: “His yellow skin scarcely covered the work of muscles and arteries beneath; his hair was of a lustrous black, and flowing; his teeth of a pearly whiteness; but these luxuriances only formed a more horrid contrast with his watery eyes, that seemed almost of the same colour as the dun-white sockets in which they were set, his shriveled complexion and straight black lips” (56). Regardless of his appearance described here, outer appearances are one thing, and inner qualities
