MC4R genotype was significantly associated with average daily gain, daily feed intake and ultrasonic backfat depth. (n=270) (R. D. Houston et al. 2004) .
MC4R alleles were associated with growth and fatness traits in Landrace, Large White and synthetic lines that had been generated by crossing LW and Duroc (Hernandez-Sanchez et al. 2003; Houston et al. 2004) .
The significant QTL for fat deposition traits on the MC4R locus of the Berkshire and Yorkshire intercross was found (n = 525) (Kim K-S et al) .
In contrast, studies on the porcine Large White · Wild Boar reference family did not reveal any significant affects of MC4R variants (Park et al. 2002; M. Stachowiak et al. 2005) .
The effect of the MC4R locus on growth or fatness traits in a small Wildboar by Large White intercross population was not found (n = 190) (Park et al. 2002) .
MC4R G/A was not associated with backfat thickness but it was significantly associated with average
