Wonderful Sunrise on the East Beach
- Jeong-Dong-Jin Beach
“The Sun! Over there!” The sun rose such as an embarrass guest with blushing. Simultaneously, my mind, frightened from the spectator’s single exclamation, was gazing at the sun together with the sea and the sands. The sun came out quietly. He, suddenly, burst on the scene and dyed the sky red shyly. Then the sea made a joyful song, and the sands under my shoes started to send out glittering lights and whispered each other about the morning sun. The sun was completely round and red, and he remind of the holy bread. Little by little the sun turned from red to yellow, and he tried to shine on around the whole land. There was the blue beach with the white sands, the toy-like station, the bear with a half moon marking on his breast in the small post office, and the elementary school with tiny students. It was really simple all the things under the sun. Yes! There was ‘Jeong-Dong-Jin’ that has a wonderful sunrise.
‘Jeong-Dong-Jin’ was named because it has a port located by the sea directly east of Hanyang’s Gwang-Hwa-Mun from the Josun Dynasty. Originally, ‘Jeong-Dong-Jin’ was written in Chinese characters. Therefore, if we tried to interpret the meaning in English, ‘Jeong’ would mean ‘right’ or ‘just’, ‘Dong’ would mean an ‘east’, and ‘Jin’ would mean a ‘port’ or a ‘village’. Actually, there was a small fishing village with the small population. Therefore, you could not see such a tall and big house, except some motels or cafes for visitors. That is entirely in my favor.
