LG has 19 strategic alliances (‘Strategic Alliances’, 2007) with companies all over the world, and branches in 60 different countries (‘World Wide operations’, 2007). It also has 81 subsidiaries, and a total of approximately 74% of its sales come form overseas (‘About LG’, 2007). As you can see, in the 60 years since the company’s creation, it has managed to spread from Korea over practically the entire globe. Having such a huge market means that LG can diversify and specialise in different areas, and doesn’t rely on the specifications of just one country’s economy, but can utilise the global economy. It also increases the ability to create strategic alliances with other companies, creating new products, strengthening its image via its partners and broadening its market (‘Strategic Alliances’, 2007). However, LG products are also available online, making them accessible no matter where you are. This also allows innovative products such as those of LG’s to stand out as the Internet enables the customer to easily compare quality and price.
