Sex
When we talk about advertising visual, there are three key points; Beauty, Beast, and Baby. Once one of these three things is used in advertising, the advertisement often guaranteed to attract public gaze. To take advantage of using Beauty, advertising people uses women more frequently than men because women’s bodylines rouse sexual desire more effectively. Sex-appeal advertising is often used on expensive things; it appeals on sensitive faculty rather than rational faculty.
Above poster is advertising Mercedes Benz S-Class. At a first glance, four women’s breasts are sex-appeal enough to hold public’s eyes. And then, the numeral “8” in the middle explains what those 8 breasts stand for; there are 8 airbags equipped in the S class. Along with describing product’s function, the Advertising is more focused to appeal people’s sensitive faculty. The Mercedes top of the line, S class, is targeting its consumer as rich people, in which majority populations are men. In Mercedes Benz position, since they are already well-known for excellence on performance, stimulating people with this kind of special technique will be effective.
