소개글
하버드비지니스 리뷰와 비슷한 맥킨지쿼털리(www.mckinseyquarterly.com)의 영문글 What IT leaders do!

Summary
People say that a business makes IT decision with the structures, processes and policies. Most companies nowadays have such frameworks so called IT governance. Under the circumstances of IT governance, IT and the business too often lack a common understanding of company’s basic objectives. Companies rely on formal meetings, analyses and decision frameworks and those look hard to reach the agreement among peers and sometimes drive the endless argument to make tough trade-offs.
Leadership can achieve what IT governance systems cannot. A single IT leader can make decision more effectively without the meetings and interferences of others who are not involved in IT. The article shows the example of one large bank in Europe. Though it had a clear system of IT governance, the bank lacked of vision for IT’s role in supporting the bank’s overall strategy. The IT leader, CIO, resolved problems by hijacking the process of IT agenda forward. He effectively integrated a common vision for IT with the corporate strategy. He’s careful to plan, sequence and even financial aspect about the investment on IT.
