본문내용
The main characters in the novel The Outsider and The Great Gatsby, Meursault and Gatsby are both failures. They both end up with death. Both authors, Albert Camus and F. Scott Fitzgerald of the novels, try to give a model of failure through the main characters to give a lesson to the readers not to be like them. The message that the authors try to get across the readers' minds is to be involved in the society. The main characters in the novel The Outsider and The Great Gatsby, Meursault and Gatsby, give the readers a lesson not to be isolated from the society.
First of all, the main character in the novel The Outsider, Meursault, gives the readers a lesson not to be isolated from the society. The author of the novel The Outsider, Albert Camus, describes Meursault as a naked man. Camus says in the after word, “He says what he is, he refuses to hide his feeling and society immediately feels threatened” (Camus 118).
