We live in the age of an information-oriented society. There are many media, for instance, television, radio, computer, newspaper, and so on. Among them, TV is one of the most important media of mass communication. TV is in close connection with our lives. Through TV, even though we can get new information, have fun and have a chance to have indirect experiences, but it has many bad effects. That is to say, TV has more negative effects than positive effects.
The violence of TV has very serious effects. In TV programs, we can easily see a recurrence of a case. It causes imitative crimes. According to Brandon Centerwall, a professor at the University of Washington, who studied violence in the United States, from 1945 to 1974 the murder rate increased 93 percent. It shows that TV teaches violence, and it also makes people be unconcerned about violence. It can also cause antisocial actions.
