1 Overview
This assessment is targeted for intermediate ESL students who would expect to upgrade their level to upper-intermediate. Considering the aspect of second language acquisition, expected age range would be between 17 to 23 – high school and college students, which is ideal for second language learning. Learners in this age range would spontaneously participate in English learning activities and actively interact with other classmates or their English instructor. In order to reach the learners’ goal and to achieve the objectives of English courses, the assessment plan should accurately reflect the contents covered in class. In addition, more importantly, the assessment should be authentic to maximize the learning effectiveness. In this portfolio, large-scale standardized assessment items are also utilized to increase overall test validity and reliability.
2 Assessment plan
After undergoing the intensive English course, learners would experience assessment for twelve days.
