The purpose of this research was to investigate the effects of the Food Art Therapy program
for children who have unbalanced diet. The program was conducted during after school
activities in the form of nutritional counseling at elementary schools in Busan. The conclusions
obtained in the study were as follows.
First, food such as cereals and vegetables that were less frequently eaten by children were
selected and the program included child-centered activities such as observing color, taste and
touch, food art therapy activities, and cooking training. Second, this research contributed
operating school nutrition counseling and school extracurricular activities by dissemination of
Food Art Therapy that improve unbalanced diet. Third, providing the free public lectures and
education materials generalize Food Art Therapy in schools. Fourth, food art therapy program
showed that teachers and children have been very helpful in improving unbalanced diet. Finally,
standardizing Food Art Therapy for nutritional counseling and validating clinical application are
needed for improving unbalanced diet.
