The purpose of this study is to provide practical knowledge and the intervention plans for protectingabused children by exploring the factors that stop the act of emotional abuse by child abuse perpetrator.
1st-3rd year data of elementary school fourth graders from the Korea Youth Panel Survey(KYPS) were
used for analysis and the target was 525 children(live in ‘Dong’ area not Eup, Myun area) who had
emotional abuse in the first year but abuse was stopped after the first year. Setting gender, academic
background of the parents, household income, family structure, mother’s occupation, grades of major school
subjects, degree of behavioral problems of children, degree domestic violence, parent-child intimacy, and
community support as criterion variables and setting stop abusing children as the predictor variable. The
logistic regression analysis was used and as a result, domestic violence, community support and mother’s
occupation influence significantly to stop emotional abuse of children. We derived practical and Institutional
implications in the field of social welfare with personal, family, and community factors as the center on
the basis of the results of the study and sought ways to improve the situation.
