사이버정치 연구와 관련하여 연구자들의 관심은 정보사회와 민주주의, 정당 및 의회, 전자정부와 선거과정, 국제정치와 안보의 영역 등으로 나뉘어져 있으며, 연구의 진행은 전체를 총괄하는 총론적 연구에서 각론적 연구로의 분화과정에 들어서 있다. 그러나 아직 확고한 이론적 틀의 구축에는 성공하지 못하고 있으며, 이는 무엇보다도 연구에 사용되는 용어의 개념적 일치성을 확보하지 못했음에 기인하는 것으로 여겨진다. 따라서 기존의 연구에 있어 부족하다고 여겨지는 정치와 정치과정 속에서의 시민의 모습, 보다 구체적으로는 정치행위에 대한 참여주체로서의 시민이 차지하고 있는 역할에 대한 연구와 학제적 연구의 필요성이 제기되어지며, 데이터의 축적을 통한 후속연구의 발전을 위한 공동연구 및 자료축적의 노력이 필요하다고 판단된다. 사이버정치 교육과 관련하여 현재 각 대학에서 사이버정치 강좌는 그 필요성이 인정되고 있으며, 강좌개설의 가능성이 점차 높아지고 있다. 그러나 아직 사이버정치 강좌가 주요분야로서 자리 매김하고 있지는 못하며, 강의내용과 관련해서는 ‘민주주의’와 ‘정치과정’이 가장 필요한 강의내용으로 여겨지고 있다.

영어 초록

The article aims to examine following two points with regard to the political activities in the cyberspace. First, it names the all the activities in the cyberspace 'cyberpolitics' and examines the state of the art of the subject to search for the direction of the study. Second, it tries to find the right status of the study in the stream of the political science education through the questionnaire answered by various political scientists. As to the first point, the political scientists, who are concentrating on cyberpolitics, address themselves to the various fields such as information society, democracy, political parties and parliament, cyber-government, electoral system, international politics and security. But the study is mainly concentrated on general aspects of cyberpolitics, and on the process of being diversified into its specific characteristics. The study of cyberpolitcs has not succeeded in building a theoretical frame yet, and this is mainly because of failing to acquire the conceptual agreement on the terms used to proceed the study. So it gives rise to the need of study on the subjects such as the role of citizens in the political process as active participants, the interdisciplinary research. And it also calls for the need to accumulate data for preparing further studies in the field of electoral study. With regard to the second point, the article finds that the cyberpolitics classes are not widely opened in Korean universities. But the need to open the class is actively recognized, and the possibility of opening the cyberpolitics class becomes larger and larger. When it comes to the subjects which are to be included in the curriculum, democracy and political process were the two major responses from the answers.
