본문내용
It is frequently said that Chaucer endeavored to create a miniature world of his time in his work “The Canterbury Tales”. He shows a wide range of fourteenth-century society through the group of interesting pilgrims. When Chaucer wrote this tales, the social structure of his world was changing very rapidly and ‘Chaucer himself was a good example of this new social mobility being granted to members of the emerging middle class’ (정선아, 6). Therefore, his social identity was not clear and that is why some people call him as a ‘new man’.
