Summary
In the poem, the speaker has a crush on a woman, which she has to ignore or even refuse due to social norms their society requires. However, he doesn’t give up the woman, and rather expresses his feeling more directly with humorous and lively expressions, appealing to her toward human innate emotion.
Criticism
In reading the poem without any knowledge on historical circumstances the author might have been under, I found the poem appealing to me, probably to people in my age as well.

Summary
There is a guy, very religious and normalized in society, named ‘Young Goodman Brown’. One night, he just starts a little journey after making his wife ‘Faith’ sleep. The purpose of his journey is evil one to have for Brown as a religious person: to attend the ceremony between devils, sacrilegious people.
Criticism
This novel is very complicated, at least to me. Still not sure of what the author really wants to say in the story, I couldn’t find any satisfying answer to the question even after searching on the internet. Probably, my intellectual capacity is just not enough to unite all the things symbolized by characters’ names and situations ‘Young Goodman Brown’ confronts.
