본문내용
Imagine the morning over coffee with chimpanzees, talking with a gorilla in human language and laughing at its jokes, seeing the elephants painting various objects using a paintbrush without being taught, watching bees solve math problems better than humans, and observing an orangutan at work as a cashier in a supermarket. If situations were true, would animals still be considered creatures that cannot thinking?” According to the book, The Most Dangerous Game, the hunter, Rainsford, kills helpless animals, believing that animals do not really possess complex thought, emotion and understanding. (Richard Connell, 1932) Moreover, philosopher Peter Carruthers argues that there is little basis for thinking that any nonhuman animals can think, with the possible exception of chimpanzees, and therefore, animals do not have the capacity to think about one’s thoughts. (Carruthers, 2006) However, how can they think and survive in this world? Animals must think.
