본문내용
Alice Walker’s “everyday use” tells African American’s tradition and identity through mama and her two daughters, Dee and Maggie. The story starts with mama’s waiting with Maggie for Dee. One day, Dee visits her home from her school in Agusta, and she has a conflict with her mama and Maggie about possessing quilts which represent the family’s heritage. As Alice Walker describes mama’s two different daughters ─ one successful, confident Dee and the other shy, unattractive Maggie ─ through mama’s mouth, what does Walker want to tell us about African’s thinking of their heritage? Walker conveys her opinion by describing each character effectively.
