This memo is written to summarize the strategies Samsung Electronics use, including Porter’s Five Forces analysis (industry-level analysis), Corporate Strategy Analysis and Advanced Strategy Analyses (firm-level analysis).
Samsung Electronics (“SEC”) is a South Korean multinational electronics company headquartered in Suwon, South Korea. It is the flagship subsidiary of the Samsung Group. Samsung Electronics operates its business in three major electronic industries as follows: IT & Mobile Communications (IM), Consumer Electronics (CE), and Device Solutions (DS). IM Division in the Korean market is where we are going to focus.
To start with, we apply Porter’s Five Forces into industry-level analysis.
Extent of Rivalry: The greatest among the five forces is perhaps industry rivalry. It has the biggest potential to influence the competitiveness of the industry and in turn the rate of profit for companies.
