1. 머리말20세기에 있어서 인류에게 가장 큰 변화가 있도록 영향을 미친 매체는 텔레비전과 컴퓨터일 것이다. 두 매체는 기술발전의 결과로 출현했으며 두 매체의 이용으로 말미암아 기존에 형성되었던 생활유형이 변화되는 유사점을 갖고 있다.
텔레비전이 보급되자 우리의 저녁시간과 주말시간은 텔레비전 시청으로 점유되었고 텔레비전 앞에 온 가족이 모여 함께 시청하는 것으로 여가선용과 가족문화가 변화되었다. 텔레비전이 우리의 생활문화를 변화시켰듯이 컴퓨터 역시 우리의 생활문화에 급격한 변화를 가져왔다. 텔레비전은 우리들의 일상생활 중에서 특히 오락적이고 문화적인 측면에 영향을 미친 대중매체로 각광을 받았다면 컴퓨터는 정보 및 의사교환을 원활하게 하는 정보매체로 자리매김하고 있다.
컴퓨터가 제공해 준 여러 혁명적인 기능 중에서 제일 각광받고 있는 것은 바로 커뮤니케이션 분야일 것이다. 원래 컴퓨터는 과학적 용도로 사용되었으나 컴퓨터의 폭발적인 보급에 따라 컴퓨터 이용자들은 서로를 연결하는 수단으로 활용하게 되었다.례집,이제 컴퓨터는 이용자들의 커뮤니케이션 행위를 원활하게 해주는 연결 매체로 우리의 일상생활속에 자리매김하였다. 이는 갈수록 복잡해지는 도시구조와 시간에 쫓기는 도시인들이 갈수록 어려워지는 교통난 등의 이유로 물리적인 이동에 의해 서로 대면을 해야 하는 대면접촉보다는 컴퓨터로 매개되는 커뮤니케이션을 통해 상호교류하는 추세가 늘고 있기 때문이다.
