본문내용
What is a vertical farm?
The basic premise is to be able to grow food in urban areas by creating tall buildings
Each floor is in essence its own super greenhouse, where different crops can be grown to feed people within its own community.
Why do we need it?
Vertical farming systems that grow a variety of crops in pollutant-free environments
“Horizontal farming is failing. If current practices don’t change by mid-century, an area bigger than Brazil would need to become farmland just to keep pace with the demand”
(Columbia University professor Dickson Despommier)
<중 략>
- Every year droughts and floods ruin crops.
- 30% of harvested crops are spoilage and infestation during storage and transport.
- Insults of outdoor farming: fertilizer runoff, fossil-fuel emissions, and loss trees and grassland.
- (That’s why we need vertical farms)
