The objective of this experiment are revising the concept of turbine cycles, its practical implementation and understand how to calculate work, power, efficiency and effectiveness of a turbine for open boundary thermo mechanical system. Some of important points that will be discussed are: efficiency of open and closed system, enthalpy, internal energy and total energy of a gaseous system, conversion of pressure and temperature into mechanical energy in a turbine. The effect of the RPM of the turbine on the power extraction will be discussed briefly. After the data is analyzed, it is proven that the relationship between the RPM of the turbine and its corresponding torque is inversely proportional as the theory suggested. It is very important to pay attention that efficiency of the turbine reached maximum when the turbine runs between 15,000 to 20,000 RPM as shown on the figure.
