HIP JOINT

Pelvis:
- made up of sacrum, coccyx and two innominate bones which are formed by a fusion of the illum, ischium, and the pubis
- it supports and protects the abdominal organs and transmits forces from the head, arms, trunk to the lower extremities
- there are 7 joints formed in the pelvic bones:
lumbosacral, sacroiliac(2), sacroccygeal, symphysis pubis, and the hip(2)

Hip Joint :
- ball and socket9amphiarthrodial)
- most structurally stable, yet mobile, single joint in the body
- a major component of the locomotor system; participates in elevating and lowering the body; and in bringing the foot toward the body or hands
- has three degrees of freedom of motion, the axes of which lie in the three planes which are perpendicular to each other:
