본문내용
Over the last few years, use of China’s currency for international trade has been growing steadily. Some economist said that this is the start of a journey that will see the RMB displace the dollar and become the international reserve currency within a decade. cs. So I am fairly interested in this topic and keep an eye on this theme for long time. Will its currency take on an international role? I think it is not easy and quite challengeable.
A. What is an international currency?
An international currency is one that is used outside its home country. It is one of a number of possible measures of international use. The classic three functions of money domesticallystore of value, medium of exchange, and unit of accountcan be transferred to the level of international money. Under each function are important examples of how government authorities and private actors sometimes choose to use a major international currency other than their own. But other possible criteria of an international currency appear in the table: currency substitution, invoicing foreign trade and denominating international financial flows, pegs for smaller countries’ currencies, and foreign exchange trading.
