본문내용
Thomas Hardy was born near Dorchester in Dorset. From an early age, he had ambitions of being an architect, and this affected to his later writings. His works are well balanced, and his sentence structures are very good as grand and unify architectures. Hardy studied construction in London, which was, as still is, the centre of social mores. It was in London that that he started to write several essays and since then, he wrote many pieces of works which deal with social problems in the Victorian period.
Hardy’s masterpieces are The Return of the Native, The Mayor of Casterbridge, Tess of the dUrbervilles and so many others. His works were written from an antichristian and antisocial pessimistic viewpoint. As a result of this he encountered sever criticism by people of those days.
