During Jan 23rd 2010 to Nov 5th 2010, 14 young Chinese workers in Foxconn Shenzhen plant chose to end their own lives by jumping out of their dormitory buildings. Thisattracted quite a lot of public attention and initiated hot discussionwithin China about how to improve working conditions and solve psychological problems for employees in labor-intense industries such as OEM. Our group’s intention is to use our knowledge and learning from OB class to analyze this issue from organizational perspective and try to provide our suggestions to Foxconn to rebuild its management mechanism, preventing this kind of tragedy happening again in the future.

company is a business organization. It is an association or collection of individual real persons and/or other companies, who each provide some form of capital. This group has a common purpose or focus and an aim of gaining profits. A company can be also defined as an "artificial person", invisible, intangible, created by or under Law. People are very social creatures and need to feel a sense of belonging. However, Foxconn doesn’t seem to have its own sense of belonging. Thus, the company seems to dedicate itself to make more money without any direction. Like a person, a company needs to come up with a solid direction in order to get its own goal.
