Even though I read diverse philosophical essays in the textbook, choosing two essays for the dialogue paper took quite long time. After reviewing my thoughts, I have decided to explore Boethius and Bertrand Russell again. They meet each other unexpectedly in the hospice care facilities because they have heard sad new, about their mutual friend’s sudden death.
I feel that their essays made me think critically about the reality and value of life and death, and what is most important thing in our life compared to the past. Although their time period is different, it also gave an opportunity for them to communicate with intimacy because both dealt with universal true value. I will try to explain some of their ideas through their dialogue include the following:
Boethius:
• The idea of false goods
• The concept of highest good
• Proofs for the existence of God

Bertrand Russell:
• The idea of the practical man
• The idea of the enlargement of self
• The idea of the value of the philosophy
