In these days, it is now easy for everyone to share their opinions and thoughts. Sharing ideas online is common because of the development of digital tools and the World Wide Web. These have become more available for the public through the wide spread of digital cameras, personal computers, iPhones, iPads and mp3 p_badtagss. Therefore, it could be possible to have free culture or amateur culture. This is Andrew Keen’s opinion in his book The Cult of Amateur. He argues that the publication of amateur culture is not culture that offers something valuable and meaningful during the Internet age. He is also concerned about that, if the amateur culture goes on continually, there may be no true experts in our society. “The monkeys take over. Say good-bye to today’s experts and cultural gatekeepers…” (563). He wants people not to make amateur culture on the Web. However, Keen is wrong because Internet gives the public a chance to publish their abilities, and there is no significant difference between the amateur culture before and after the spread of the Web.
