From Early Christian and Byzantine to Romanesque, and Gothic, many styles in architecture came out during the medieval times. Style reflexes the hottest issue of the time. Christ, Church and other religious life were the main theme that the medieval people were interested. There, medieval architecture developed with Christian architecture.
Early Christian and Byzantine Architecture
Many Christian elements were used in Early Christian and Byzantine architecture. Roughly we can define early Christian and Byzantine Architecture in two types. One is the Basilica type from Basilica Ulpia which focusing on ‘passage’. Another is Martyrium type from Mausoleum of Diocletianus concentration on ‘point’ or ‘center’.
