In this article, the writers Fabiano-Smith and Goldstein study the accuracy of developing sounds in early-, middle-, and late-developing (EML) English-Spanish bilingual children and their monolingual counterparts. Their research is exploratory and preliminary in nature because no one has attempted to compare the ages and proficiencies of English-Spanish bilingual children, English monolingual, and Spanish monolingual children in the same experiment. In order to conduct this research successfully, these researches have used various test used by other prior to them and they have also had to create their own test for comparing accuracy of EML sounds of English and Spanish monolinguals.
