Q1. This novel started at A&P where 19-year-od Sammy was working and three girls entered the store with swimming suits only. He showed an interest in counters while analyzing figures of the girls individually. A girl that height was small was wearing a swimming suit of a green two-piece suit with cross-stripes pattern. The girl who had a face like a chubby strawberry was tall, and had the long chin with black hair. The third girl was a queen, and had oak color hair and dollish face while closing her mouth tightly. She did not show any expression even though Sammy and Stokesie were seeing herself. Girls were willing to count snacks in counter. However, Lengel who was a friend of Sammy’s father and was teaching students at a Sunday school as a bored person made the girls leave from the store while blaming them who were wearing swimming suits array. On this, Sammy followed the girls after saying that he would quit the shop while wishing the girls to see him as a hero along with hostility to Lengel. However she already went, and there were not. He soon realizes own action, and worried about impending difficult world afterwards while watching the figure of working Lengel.

Q2. Main character was changing with three phases. He found the girls who were swimming suit and showed interests first, and was not able to disguise excitement. However, he quitted the shop because of hostility to Lengel and impulsive heroism that he wanted to protect the girls as an adolescent boy. However, he felt disappointment and nothingness after finding that the girls who were expected to wait him already disappeared.
