① Generating a projection data (sinogram)
Computed Tomography (CT) is an indirect medical imaging modality that utilizes x-rays. Its applications range from cancer diagnoses to trauma to automotive engine analysis, and unlike contentional X-ray (a direct method), CT allows reconstruction of images from single projections at multiple angles in what are known as slices. In CT the 3D body is reduced to 2D slices - a development made possible by a computer. Each ray represents an individual measurement of the linear attenuation coefficient.
