What is Plasma?
The phases of matter generally found on Earth are solid, liquid, and gas. However, there is one more phase called plasma. The plasma phase hardly occurs, because a huge amount of power is required to continuously heat up the matter to become plasma and sustain the phase. When the matter turns into plasma by gaining sufficient energy, atoms of fuel are ionized into electrons, ions, and neutral atoms that move independently in a large space. Those electrons, ions, and neutral atoms are constantly interacting and colliding with each other. The plasma can be accelerated and controlled by magnetic fields (Eastman).
