1. Character analysis
(1) Hamlet
He thinks that the marriage between his mother and uncle is unjust. But he only can satirize the blamable situation with the food of wedding dinner, because of his passive, introspective and dreary individuality. At the same time, we can recognize him as very careful and cool-headed person, because he sealed his men’s mouth when he figured out through the ghost of his father about the fact that his uncle poisoned his father. And he is open-minded, progressive and warm person, because he calls Horatio, Bernardo, and Marcellus, as ‘friend’ despite of he noble class as prince. Also he has sentimental and impulsive personality, which is affirmable by his murder on Polonius. Above all, the most salient traits of him are his indecisiveness and speculation, which can be seen by his agony in murdering on his uncle and his continuous soliloquies. Especially, the famous speech, “To be or not to be, it is the question!!” represents his character very well. But there can be a questionable scene about his indecisiveness. After the theater, the king came to church and was praying with penitence, and Hamlet considered that moment as good chance to kill him. This scene can reveal Hamlet’s cool-headed character.
