-Where does marriage expenses cultures come from?

As I mentioned above, as time goes by, marriage expenses culture is being continuously changed in its form. But no matter how it change its form, most Korean put importance to marriage expenses and gifts culture and even its role is getting important. So, by objectively understanding marriage expenses culture which influences our lives, we can figure out Korean thought and cultural characteristic. .
Then let me look for 4 aspects of cultural background of those.

1. Marriage: union of one`s family, increase of scope and cost in marriage expenses.

In Orient-Philosophy, marriage meant matching for family to family, not a relationship between contracting parties in a marriage. Particularly, under a hierarchical society, marriage was used to promote friendship among family or countries. As a result, when people get married, they laid stress on family not the contracting parties in a marriage. In fact it was common to get married between same classes and even there was a law which forbade marriage between noble and low class. Like this, the money or products to express thanks or politeness improved marriage expenses.
Therefore, the scope of marriage expenses was expanded all over the family members, like parents, grandparents and all the relatives. This is how the culture of marriage expenses came into being.
