Pop art aimed to employ images of popular as opposed to elitist culture in art, emphasizing the banal or kitsch elements of any given culture. It has also been defined by the artists` use of mechanical means of reproduction or rendering techniques that downplay the expressive hand of the artist. And pop art definitely broke the hegemony of the Abstract Expressionism in Europe and United States that occupied center art stage in 1950`s. It excreted the edges between high and low art. It confronted institutional art with everyday endless objects which gained, displayed as art, a new quality.
As Lawrence Alloway called this trend `pop art` (shortened from popular art), pop is the masses` art for the masses and the interpretations of the artist about mass culture.
Thus, pop and mass culture are in that case, Is pop art have the `reality`? if so, how pop represent the `real world`?
Pop Art represents in some ways the extreme version, brought up to date in its subjects and style, of 19th-century Realism: these are the ‘peintres de la vie moderne’ whose arrival Baudelaire had longed for a hundred years
