본문내용
This lecture is about a brief introduction to Korean culture. It is supposed to convey the information to foreigners who live in Korea, so the goal is to make them understand how Korean thinking and behavior are formed. The state religion of Korea is Confucianism. Confucianism replaced Buddhism as the state religion in the 14th century. It is little bit different from Chinese one. Korean Confucianism has a hierarchal structure. Its representative principles are the three fundamental and five moral principles of human relations, called 삼강오륜 in Korean. These are the rules.
1. The son must serve the father.
2. The subject must serve the rulers.
3. The wife must serve the husband.
ⅰThere must be fidelity between ruler and subject.
ⅱ There must be a close bond between father and son.
ⅲ The wife is below the husband.
ⅳ Younger are subordinate to older.
ⅴ There must be trust between friends.
The four principles except the last one in five moral principles emphasized importance of hierarchy.
