The global environment for foreign direct investment has improved gradually. Macroeconomic growth, regulatory reform, and liberalization held all over the world. At the same time corporate profitability was generally strong, equity valuation in most countries’ firm and interest rates were relatively low, all of which imply that a lot of currency was available to those companies wanting invest abroad (“OECD”).
For developing countries, economic developments have moved even faster like China and India. Countries that had serious impact by financial and macroeconomic crises in the late 1990s and around 2000, including in South East Asia and South
